Northwest Indiana - Keep a close eye on the new technology park being developed by Purdue Research Foundation, says David Lasser, president of Commercial In-Sites Inc. in Merrillville. Ground has broken on the 400-acre site in Merrillville and site work is commencing, with the first efforts focusing on a technology incubator.

"We foresee that incubator and the entire park as being a huge economic driver for all of northwest Indiana," Lasser says. Heís also pleased about the activity heís seen at the AmeriPlex business park in Portage, where both speculative and build-to-suit projects have brought in business.

The Coffee Creek Center residential and commercial development continues to take shape in the Chesterton area, he says. Medical office development there includes the new Lakeshore Bone & Joint Institute building. The regionís office market remains healthy, according to Lasser, with occupancy rates in the 90 percent range. The Merrillville market, he says, remains the cornerstone of office development in northwest Indiana.
